In this course we are going to learn the role of the periodontal therapist and the 5 essentials of an oral systemic practice. They are a comprehensive complete health assessment, a complete periodontal evaluation, salivary diagnostic testing, targeted treatment planning and a protocol for collaborating with your patients extended multidisciplinary health care team. You will have the resources for excellent patient education and treatment presentations to ensure your patient understands and values their care plan.

Patti DeMatteis, ASDH, RDH
Patti DeMatteis, ASDH, RDH practiced dental hygiene in private practice for 25 years before founding Dental Hygiene Excellence in 1997 to make a difference in dentistry. Her passion lies in coaching her hygiene colleagues to renew their passion for the merit of their work and making it easier to do every day! She is a hugefor the oral-systemic health movement, a very proud founding member of AAOSH, a Bale Doneen preceptor, and a managing partner of the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio where on a good day they save a smile, but on a great day, they save a life.
Medical dental collaboration is her goal for better patient management and outcomes and the future of health care!

Lora Hooper, BSDH, RDH, EFDA
Lora received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from the Ohio State University in 1995. Lora is a founding member of The American Academy for Oral Systemic Health and a Preceptor for the BaleDoneen Method. Lora is a member of the ADHA, ODHA, and CDHA. She has served as Continuing Education Chair for the CDHA and as a liaison for the ODHA to the OSDB.
At the Prevent Clinic, Lora is one of our care coordinators. In this position, she is able to integrate her expertise in dental knowledge, managing patient care, and incorporating her passion for improving patients’ lives with implementing oral systemic care into practice. In her spare time, you can find her spending time with her children and reading oral systemic health research. One fun fact about Lora is that she was a figure skater for The Ohio State University. She is also co-owner of a business, DHE Method, that provides coaching and resources to implement oral systemic care into practice. She also co-hosts the Ask Why Podcast.
